What a Day!
Well today started off like any other but the terrible attacks on our capital, London were a shocked us all, especially after last weeks Live 8 concert and London winning the Olymics in 2012 (not that I was that interested in that... after all they had to find something to do with the Millenium Dome!). But still the attacks could have been allot worse if it had'nt been for precautions put in place to tackle terrorist attacks and for the calm nature in which most people acted. I also think that judging by the way the attacks we're carried out around London and the number of fatalties (still quite a number, but possibly could have been more) that all didn't go as smooth (or chaotic) as the terroists expected - which is kinda good, I mean no dis-repect by this comment just trying to look on the bright side of things, after all I work in London quite often and could have been so easily caught up in such tragic events, especially as I was due to go with my sister to the Queen concert in Hyde park tommorrow - but thats now been cancelled!
Anyway I did get to see The War of the World tonight and was amazed how good the film actually is (it's not even cheesy!).
Some scenes are almost accurate to the book (if the book was based in 2005 instead of 1899 of course). The martian tripods are amazing and very unearthly, their communication noise they make is more Accurate to how HG Wells discribed it rather than Jeff Wayne. I just feel that the way in which the tripod moves in the film, the black smoke, the heat ray - the way it evaoprates people and the handling machine's is just how H G Well imagined it. Also Tom Cruise is excellent in this film - it's probably the best film he's done. It's definetly Sci-Fi-Horror genre and much better than cheesy Independence Day!
Keep Watching the Skies, You Guys!
